Praying the Scriptures

Sunday Morning Prayer

June 29, 2025

I will sing of your might; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been a fortress for me and a refuge in the day of my distress. O my strength, I will sing praises to you, for you, O God, are my fortress, the God who shows me steadfast love. (Psalm 59:16–17)

Gracious Lord,

As the first light spills over the Florida Mountains and paints the creosote bushes in warm gold, I breathe in the cool desert air. The dawn breeze carries birdsong across the quiet sand, and I thank You for waking me to this new day and the privilege of gathering with Your people in worship.

You, O God, are mighty beyond measure—yet Your steadfast love greets me gently each morning. You have been my fortress when storms gathered, my refuge when distress pressed in. Today I echo the psalmist: I will sing aloud of Your steadfast love and declare Your strength that has carried me through every trial.

As we prepare to enter Your sanctuary, still my restless mind. Open my heart to Your Word and my voice to Your praise. Let every note we sing, every prayer we lift, draw us deeper into Your presence and knit us closer as the body of Christ.

I step into this Sunday sunrise with renewed trust: You remain my stronghold, the God who shows unfailing love. Receive my worship, O Strength of my life, and let my whole being proclaim, “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised.”

Amen.

May the strength of the Lord be your refuge today, and may His steadfast love lead you joyfully into worship and into the week ahead.
