Sunday Morning Prayer
December 8, 2024
And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them? I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth? (Luke 18:7–8)
Heavenly Father,
As the December sun rises over the desert Southwest, I come before You in the stillness of this sacred Advent morning. The chill of the New Mexican air reminds me of the waiting—the expectant hope for Your justice, the promise of Your coming.
I hear Your words echo in my heart: "And will not God grant justice to His chosen ones who cry to Him day and night? Will He delay long in helping them? I tell you, He will quickly grant justice to them." Lord, my spirit is comforted by Your assurance. You are not distant or unhearing; You see every need, every plea.
In this season of waiting, as I prepare my heart for the coming of the Christ-child, may I never lose sight of the urgency of Your call. Strengthen my faith, Lord, that I may not waver or grow weary in prayer. Teach me to trust that Your justice, though it may seem delayed, will come in Your perfect time—swiftly and righteously.
As the mountains stand steadfast and the pinon trees whisper in the cool breeze, I am reminded that Your love is unshakable. Your justice rolls down like the arroyos after the rain, filling the dry places of my soul. In the beauty of this land and the season of Advent, I see the promise of Your kingdom breaking into this world.
Lord Jesus, come quickly. Let me be a beacon of hope and justice in this waiting world. Fill my heart with the faith that believes, the hope that endures, and the love that overflows. And as I light the Advent candle this morning, may its flame be a reflection of the unquenchable light of Your justice.
In the name of Jesus, the One who is to come, I pray.
