Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Evening Prayer
December 7, 2024
In days to come the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised up above the hills. Peoples shall stream to it, and many nations shall come and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth instruction, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. (Micah 4:1–2)
Heavenly Father,
As the evening settles over the desert and the Florida Mountains fade into the gentle glow of twilight, I pause to rest in Your presence. The cool air carries the scent of piñon wood and reminds me of the promise that all nations will one day come to Your holy mountain, seeking Your ways and walking in Your light.
Teach me, Lord, to let go of the burdens of this day and to embrace Your peace, knowing that You are shaping my heart to reflect Your love. In this season of Advent, as I wait in hopeful expectation, may I listen for Your voice, guiding me to paths of righteousness and drawing me closer to Your eternal truth.
Let the quiet beauty of this desert evening be a reflection of Your promise—that swords will be turned into plowshares and that Your kingdom of peace will reign forever. As the stars shine in the clear night sky, I lift my eyes to You, the source of all wisdom and hope.
In the name of Jesus, the Light of the world,
Amen.
May this prayer bring peace and comfort to your evening.
