Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Morning Prayer
March 8, 2025
Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9–11)
Gracious and Almighty God,
As the first light of dawn stretches across the desert floor and the Florida Mountains stand resolute against the morning sky, I lift my heart in praise to You. Your name is above every name, higher than the peaks that rise from this sacred earth, greater than the vast sky that holds the promise of another day.
Lord Jesus Christ, You have been exalted above all, and at Your name, every knee shall bow—in heaven, on earth, and even in the quiet solitude of this New Mexico wilderness. The morning breeze whispers Your majesty, and the sun climbs steadily in witness to Your glory. Let my heart, too, bend in reverence. Let my lips confess with joy that You are Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
In this stillness, where the cacti cast long shadows and the doves greet the day with their gentle coos, I surrender my will to Yours. May I walk in humility as You walked, emptying myself of pride and selfishness, seeking only to serve in love. May my words, my actions, and even my unspoken thoughts reflect the truth that You reign supreme.
Bless this land, O Lord—the weary traveler seeking rest, the rancher tending livestock, the teacher shaping young minds, and the lonely soul yearning for companionship. Let Your presence be known among us, that this desert, so often seen as dry and barren, may blossom with the fruits of Your Spirit.
Jesus, my King, my Redeemer, my Lord—this day is Yours. I step forward in faith, trusting that wherever I go, whatever I face, Your name will be my strength, my refuge, my song.
Amen.
I hope this prayer brings you peace and inspiration as you start your day.
