Praying the Scriptures

Friday Evening Prayer

March 7, 2025

The LORD is my strength and my might; he has become my salvation. There are glad songs of victory in the tents of the righteous: “The right hand of the LORD does valiantly; the right hand of the LORD is exalted; the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.” (Psalm 118:14-16)

O Lord,

As the sun fades behind the rugged peaks of the mountains and the desert air cools with the coming night, I lift my heart to You in gratitude. The warmth of the day may be retreating, but Your steadfast love remains, wrapping me in its embrace.

You are my strength, my song, and my salvation. Through the trials of this life, You have upheld me. Like the sturdy mesquite that thrives in arid soil, You have made me stand firm in the midst of struggle. When the winds howl and the dust swirls, I remember—Your hand sustains me. Your right hand is mighty, lifting me beyond my fears and guiding me along the path of righteousness.

I do not fear the night, for Your light remains within me. Even in the solitude of this vast land, I am not alone, for You walk beside me. The stars above are but a reflection of Your countless mercies, and the stillness of this evening whispers of Your peace.

Let my heart rejoice in You, O Lord! Let my voice declare Your works so that even in the quiet of this desert night, praise will rise like incense to the heavens. I rest in the shelter of Your love, knowing that Your right-hand does valiantly.

In the name of Jesus, my Redeemer, and my refuge, I pray.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
