Praying the Scriptures

Saturday Evening Prayer

March 8, 2025

Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9–11)

O Lord,

As the sun fades behind the rugged peaks of the mountains and the desert wind whispers across the sage and mesquite, I bow before You in awe. The vastness of the evening sky, sprinkled with stars You have named, reminds me that Your glory is beyond measure.

You, O God, have exalted Jesus above all, giving Him the name that is above every name. As the creatures of the desert find their rest and the earth settles into silence, I too kneel in humble adoration. Let my heart, my voice, and my very breath confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to Your eternal glory.

Tonight, in this quiet solitude, I surrender my worries to You. The burdens of the day, the struggles of my heart—I lay them down at the feet of Christ, who reigns in heaven and walks beside me on this dusty earth.

May my life reflect the light of Christ, as the moon reflects the sun, shining softly over the desert night. May my words, my thoughts, and my deeds proclaim His lordship, even in the smallest moments of my days.

As I rest beneath the heavens You have stretched out, grant me peace, O Lord. Let my dreams be filled with the assurance of Your love, and let me rise in the morning with a renewed spirit, ready to serve in the name of Jesus—the Name above all names.

Amen.

May this prayer bring peace and comfort to your evening.
