Praying the Scriptures

Saturday Morning Prayer

January 25, 2025

You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)

Heavenly Father,

As the first light of morning stretches over the desert, painting the Florida Mountains in hues of gold and rose, I am reminded of Your call to be a light in this world. The crisp air carries a quiet stillness, inviting me to pause and listen for Your voice.

Lord, today, let my life reflect Your light. Just as the sun rises to reveal the beauty of creation, may my actions reveal Your love and truth to those I encounter. Help me to cast aside fear, doubt, and complacency, so I do not hide the light You have placed within me. Instead, give me the courage to place it on the lampstand of my life, shining brightly for all to see.

Father, I pray that my words and deeds today bring encouragement and hope to others. Let them see not my efforts, but Your goodness working through me. May the warmth of Your Spirit radiate through every interaction, drawing others closer to You.

As I walk through this January day, remind me of the calling You have given me: to be a city on a hill, visible and steadfast, shining with the light of Your love. Thank You for trusting me with this sacred task. Let all that I do bring glory to You, my Creator and Redeemer.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

I hope this prayer brings you peace and inspiration as you start your day.
