Friday Evening Prayer
January 24, 2025
I did not speak in secret, in a land of darkness; I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, “Seek me in chaos.” I the LORD speak the truth, I declare what is right. (Isaiah 45:19)
Gracious and Everlasting God,
As the day yields to the calm embrace of evening, I turn to You with a heart open to Your truth. Here, in the vastness of this desert land, beneath the splendor of Your painted skies, I feel the weight of Your promise echo through the quiet of creation.
You have said, "I did not speak in secret, in a land of darkness; I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, ‘Seek me in chaos.’ I the Lord speak the truth, I declare what is right." Your Word calls out to me, not in whispers of uncertainty, but in the clarity of righteousness and hope.
Lord, You have not hidden Yourself from me. Even here, in this rugged beauty of southwestern New Mexico, Your presence is as undeniable as the stars that pierce the winter sky. Your truth shines, unshaken by the cold winds or the long shadows of the night.
Tonight, I seek Your face, not in chaos, but in the stillness of this moment. May Your truth settle in my heart as gently as frost upon the desert floor. May Your righteousness guide my steps, even when the path ahead is obscured. Teach me to walk in Your light, confident in Your Word, and bold in proclaiming Your justice.
Lord, as I lay my burdens at Your feet, I ask for rest for my body and renewal for my soul. May my thoughts align with Your will, and may my dreams be touched by Your Spirit. Let this prayer rise like incense, a fragrant offering to You, my Rock and my Redeemer.
In the quiet of this January night, I give thanks for Your steadfast love and Your unshakable truth. Watch over me, O Lord, and grant me the peace of knowing that in You, all things are made right.
In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is the light of the world, I pray.
Amen.
