Praying the Scriptures

Saturday Morning Prayer

December 7, 2024

In days to come the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised up above the hills. Peoples shall stream to it, and many nations shall come and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth instruction, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. (Micah 4:1–2)

Heavenly Father,

As the dawn breaks over the Florida Mountains, painting the sky with the soft hues of a New Mexican winter, I come before You in humble adoration on this Advent morning.

In the stillness of this day, I reflect on the words of the prophet Micah, who foretold of a time when many nations shall come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths."

Lord, guide us up this mountain of faith, where Your righteousness dwells like the everlasting peaks. As we journey through this season of waiting and anticipation, teach us Your ways. Help us to walk steadfastly in Your paths, grounded in Your truth and led by Your Spirit.

In this sacred season, stir in our hearts a yearning to learn more deeply from You, to embrace Your teachings, and to embody Your peace. May our lives reflect the light of Your love, and may we be beacons of hope and reconciliation in a world longing for Your divine touch.

Grant us the wisdom to seek Your presence not just in the sanctuaries we build but in the faces of those we meet—neighbors and strangers alike, all created in Your image. Strengthen our resolve to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with You, our God.

As the chiles hang ristras-red against adobe walls, as the crisp air fills with the scent of piñon smoke, remind us of the warmth of Your embrace and the promise of Your kingdom, where swords are turned into plowshares, and all creation lives in harmony.

Bless this day, O Lord, and all who seek You in the quiet of their hearts. May we find You in every moment, every breath, every step on this Advent path.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Hope and Salvation,

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and inspiration for the day ahead.
