Praying the Scriptures

Wednesday Evening Prayer

January 29, 2025

Hear, O Israel: The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. (Deuteronomy 6:4–6)

Heavenly Father,

As the sun sets behind the rugged peaks of the Florida Mountains and the chill of the January evening settles over the desert, I pause to hear Your voice echo in the stillness.

Lord, You are my God—my refuge in the vastness of creation and the quietness of this hour. You are the same God who carved these mountains and placed the stars in the heavens, yet You have inscribed Your commandments upon my heart.

Tonight, I renew my love for You, with all that I am. I offer You my heart, yearning to beat in rhythm with Yours; my soul, seeking to be ever closer to Your presence; and my strength, determined to serve You faithfully in all that I do.

As the crisp desert air reminds me of the seasons You ordained, I pray that Your Word will remain fresh in my heart, always guiding me. May it inspire my thoughts, shape my actions, and flow from my lips like living water in this parched land.

Help me to carry this love and devotion beyond this moment, teaching it to others as I walk the paths of this life—whether under the open skies or beneath the roof of my home.

Let this night bring rest and peace, knowing that You are God alone. Keep my mind steadfast on Your commands, my heart devoted to Your ways, and my soul secure in the knowledge of Your eternal love.

In Jesus’ holy name, I pray.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you comfort and strength as you reflect on God's promises this evening.
