Tuesday Evening Prayer
December 17, 2024
This life was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it, and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us. (1 John 1:2)
Loving Creator,
As the evening desert air grows cool and the first stars glimmer over this land of enchantment, I pause in the stillness to seek Your presence. The life that was revealed—eternal, luminous, and full of grace—has been made known to us, and my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude.
In this Advent season, I reflect on the life You shared through Your Son, a life that calls me out of the shadows and into the light of Your truth. That life was not only seen and touched by others long ago, but it has been offered to me to dwell within me as a beacon of hope and joy.
Tonight, as I gaze upon the beauty of the New Mexican night sky, with its vast openness and endless wonder, I am reminded of the vastness of Your love—a love that stretches from this desert ground to the heavens above. The mesas and mountains stand as silent witnesses to Your glory, their enduring presence echoing the eternal life You revealed.
Lord, in this holy waiting of Advent, I pray to live as one who has truly seen and heard the testimony of Your life. May my actions reflect the fellowship I have with You and with my brothers and sisters, spreading the good news of this eternal life with humility and grace.
Grant me peace this evening, O God, as I light the candle of hope in my heart. Let it shine as a reminder that Your life and love are eternal, unchanging, and present in every moment, even here in this quiet desert night.
I entrust my rest to You, knowing that tomorrow brings new opportunities to proclaim the life that was revealed, to share it with others in word and deed. May I walk each step as a witness to Your glory, holding fast to the promise of eternal fellowship with you.
In the name of Jesus Christ, the light and life of the world, I offer this prayer.
Amen.
