Praying the Scriptures
Thursday Evening Prayer
March 6, 2025
Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts. Worship the Lord in holy splendor; tremble before him, all the earth. (Psalm 96:7–9)
O Lord,
As the sun sinks beyond the rugged peaks of the mountains, I lift my voice in praise. The sky burns with the last light of day, and the wind whispers through the mesquite and sage. In this sacred stillness, I offer You glory and strength, for You alone are worthy of my worship.
I bring my heart as an offering before You, Lord, as the stars begin to pierce the twilight sky. The land is vast and quiet, yet it sings of Your majesty. The creatures of the night stir in their hidden places, and even the desert floor seems to tremble in awe of Your presence.
I bow before You in the beauty of holiness, wrapped in the cool embrace of the evening air. Let my prayers rise like incense, mingling with the scent of creosote and juniper. May my soul be still before You, trembling not in fear, but in wonder at Your greatness.
Bless this night, O Lord. Watch over my rest, over my loved ones, and over all who seek refuge in You. Let Your peace settle upon this desert land, and may my spirit wake with the dawn, ready once more to sing of Your glory.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and comfort as you end your day.
