Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Evening Prayer
January 26, 2025
The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of all who fear him; he also hears their cry, and saves them. (Psalm 145:18-19)
Gracious Lord,
As the sun dips behind the rugged peaks of the Florida Mountains and the cool desert air settles in, I draw near to You, for You are near to all who call on You. Your presence feels as vast and enduring as the heavens above me, and yet as intimate as the stillness that fills this quiet moment.
In the simplicity of this evening, I lift my voice in gratitude. You are faithful to those who call on You in truth, and I find solace in Your steadfast love. As the stars emerge one by one, they remind me that You are ever watchful, tending to my needs, both spoken and unspoken.
Lord, I place before You the desires of my heart. You know my every longing—the prayers I have voiced and the ones I hold silently within. You fulfill the desires of those who revere You, and I trust in Your timing and wisdom.
Protect me, O God, in the shadow of Your wings. Comfort me with the assurance that You hear my cry and save me. Your faithfulness spans the ages, just as this desert land bears the marks of Your creation through time.
Grant me peace this evening, that I may rest under the canopy of Your care. Help me to wake renewed, ready to proclaim again that You are near to all who seek You.
In Your holy name, I pray.
Amen.
I hope this prayer brings you comfort and peace through the night.
