Saturday Evening Prayer
December 14, 2024
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
Gracious and Eternal Lord,
As the sun dips below the horizon and the cool New Mexican night wraps its stillness around me, I lift my heart to You in gratitude. The Advent season reminds me of Your constancy, Your unwavering love that echoes through the ages. Just as the stars above the desert remain steady guides in the darkness, so too does Your light guide me, unchanging and faithful.
Tonight, I pause to marvel at the beauty of this place—the sharp scent of piñon wood burning, the distant hum of life under a blanket of stars, and the gentle reminder that all creation sings Your praise. You, Lord Jesus, are the same yesterday, today, and forever. In the flux of life’s seasons and the shifting sands of time, You are my anchor, my unshakable rock.
In the glow of this Advent evening, I await Your coming with a heart full of hope. As I light the candle, I remember that Your promises never fade, Your love never falters, and Your grace is as enduring as the mountains that rise from this land. Fill me with the peace of Your presence and the courage to reflect Your unchanging love to those I encounter.
Prepare me, Lord, for the joy of Your coming. Let my heart rest in the assurance that no matter what tomorrow holds, You remain steadfast and true. You are the Christ who was, who is, and who will forever be—my Savior and my King.
In Your holy and eternal name, I pray.
Amen.
