Praying the Scriptures
Monday Evening Prayer
December 9, 2024
From there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find him if you search after him with all your heart and soul. (Deuteronomy 4:29)
Gracious and Loving God,
As the evening falls over the desert, I lift my heart to You. Beneath the vast, starlit sky, I am reminded of the promises You have made to those who seek You. The crisp December air carries the whispers of Advent's hope, and I long to draw near to You with all my heart and soul.
Lord, You have promised that if I seek You, I will find You. In this sacred season, I search for You in the quiet of this night, in the warmth of the adobe hearth, and in the beauty of this land You have created. Help me to turn my whole being toward You, letting go of distractions and the cares of the world.
As I light the Advent candles in my home, may their flames remind me of Your everlasting light that guides me, even in the darkest valleys. Let my prayer rise like the fragrant piñon wood smoke, an offering of gratitude for Your unending faithfulness.
Tonight, I seek not only Your presence but also the courage to prepare my heart for the coming of Christ. Teach me to recognize You in the faces of those I meet, in the voices of those who call out for love and mercy, and in the stillness of this holy season.
With each breath, I surrender myself to You. May my soul find rest in Your embrace, my heart find peace in Your Word, and my spirit find joy in the hope of Your promises fulfilled.
In the name of the One who is coming, my Savior and King, I pray.
Amen.
May this prayer bring solace and inspiration as you end your day in reflection and peace.
