Praying the Scriptures

Monday Evening Prayer

August 19, 2024

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire other than you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (Psalm 73:25–26)

Gracious and Everlasting God,

As the day draws to a close and the quiet of evening settles around me, I turn my heart and mind to You. Who do I have in heaven but You? There is nothing on earth I desire besides You. In the stillness of this moment, I am reminded that though my flesh and heart may fail, You, O Lord, are the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

When the trials of the day seem overwhelming, and the burdens of life weigh heavily upon me, I find solace in Your presence. You are my refuge and my strength, my ever-present help in times of need. Though the world may shift and change around me, You remain steadfast and unchanging.

Lord, as I prepare for rest, I release my worries and cares into Your loving hands. Renew my spirit, strengthen my heart, and grant me peace that surpasses all understanding. May Your love surround me as I sleep, and may I awaken with a heart filled with gratitude and trust in Your unfailing goodness.

In Your holy name, I pray. Amen.

May this prayer bring peace and reflection to your evening.
