Praying the Scriptures
Thursday Morning Prayer
December 19, 2024
When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” The LORD has done great things for us, and we rejoiced. (Psalm 126:1–3)
Gracious Lord,
As the crisp desert air greets this new day, I lift my heart to You with thanksgiving. When I reflect on the times You have restored what was broken in my life, I am filled with joy beyond words. You, O Lord, have turned my mourning into laughter and my tears into songs of praise.
Like the rugged mountains and the vast plains of New Mexico, Your faithfulness surrounds me. You have done great things for me, and I rejoice. I feel the warmth of Your presence even in the cool stillness of this Advent morning, reminding me that You are near and that Your promises are sure.
As I prepare my heart to celebrate the coming of Your Son, fill me with the hope of His redemption and the joy of His love. Let my life this day be a testimony of Your goodness, so others may see and also be glad.
Lord, may I live as a vessel of Your peace, sharing the joy You have given me with those who are weary or in despair. May the beauty of this Advent season inspire me to walk in Your light, proclaiming Your great deeds to all creation.
In the name of Christ, who came to save and will come again, I pray.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and inspiration for your day.
