Praying the Scriptures
Thursday Morning Prayer
December 12, 2024
He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God. (John 1:11–12)
Heavenly Father,
As the golden hues of the New Mexican dawn stretch across the desert, I pause to reflect on Your Word and the mystery of Advent. You sent Your Son into the world, and though many did not receive Him, You have given me the power to become Your child—what a gift of grace and belonging!
This morning, I open my heart anew to the presence of Christ. I confess that, at times, I, too, have been slow to receive Him fully. I have allowed distractions, doubts, and busyness to dim the light of Your truth. Yet, Your love calls me back, unshaken and steadfast.
As I breathe in the crisp desert air, I am reminded of the vastness of Your mercy and the warmth of Your embrace. Help me to live today as a child of God, bearing witness to the light of Christ in my thoughts, words, and actions. Let my life reflect the joy of this Advent season so that others might see Your glory and grace through me.
Guide my steps today, Lord, through the paths You have set before me. Whether I am in the company of loved ones or strangers, may I reflect the love of Your Son, who came to us as the Word made flesh. Bless the people of this land—the ranchers, farmers, and families of New Mexico—and let Your light shine on this community, bringing hope to every heart.
In the name of Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, I pray.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and inspiration for your day.
