Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Morning Prayer
December 22, 2024
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4–7)
Good morning, Lord.
As the sun rises over the desert landscape, I feel Your presence in the stillness of this new day. The mountains stand steadfast, and the air carries the scent of sagebrush—a reminder of Your eternal faithfulness. Today, I rejoice in You, my God. Again, I say, I rejoice!
Your Word reminds me that my gentleness should be known to everyone, for You are near. Help me to live with a spirit of peace and kindness, reflecting Your light in a world that often feels shadowed by worry and doubt. As I prepare for this final week of Advent, I place my burdens before You.
I will not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, I make my requests known to You. Thank You, Lord, for the countless blessings You have poured into my life—this beautiful desert home, the love of my family and friends, and the gift of this season that fills my heart with hope.
And now, Lord, I ask for Your peace, which surpasses all understanding. Let it guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. May Your peace dwell in me so deeply that it overflows into my words, my actions, and my relationships.
As I light the fourth candle of Advent this morning, the candle of love, I am reminded of the gift of Your Son. Fill my heart with His love so that I may share it generously with those I encounter today.
Thank You for being the God who draws near, the God who hears, and the God who saves. As I walk through this day, I do so with joy and peace, awaiting the celebration of Christ’s birth.
Amen.
I hope this prayer brings you peace and inspiration for your day.
