December 16, 2024
The LORD GOD has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word. Morning by morning he wakens—wakens my ear to listen as those who are taught. (Isaiah 50:4)
Heavenly Father,
On this quiet December morning, I pause beneath the vast, open skies of New Mexico, where the sunrise paints the desert with golden hues and whispers of Your glory. The crisp air carries the scent of sagebrush and the stillness of a world waiting for Your promise to be fulfilled.
Lord God, You have given me the tongue of a teacher, to sustain the weary with a word. As Advent unfolds and we journey closer to the celebration of Christ's birth, awaken my heart to Your guidance. Teach me to speak life into the lives of those who carry burdens, to offer hope to those walking in shadowed valleys.
Each morning, You awaken me with the light of Your truth, calling me to listen like a disciple. Open my ears to hear Your voice in the quiet rustle of the desert wind, in the gentle song of the dove, and in the needs of those around me. May my heart remain attuned to the wisdom You impart through the Word and through the wonders of creation.
Father, as I walk through this Advent season, remind me of the hope we have in Jesus, the One who came to heal, to teach, and to redeem. Let my words reflect the joy of His coming and the peace of His reign. May my actions embody the love of Christ, even in the simplest gestures, so that all I encounter may be reminded of Your presence.
Guide my steps today, O Lord, and strengthen my resolve to serve You with humility and faithfulness. Let the beauty of this New Mexican December remind me of the beauty of Your promise—a promise fulfilled in Christ and still unfolding in our lives.
In the name of Jesus, Emmanuel, I pray.
