Praying the Scriptures
Friday Morning Prayer
June 27, 2025
Instead, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; for it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1_Peter_1:15–16)
Gracious and Holy God,
As the first light breaks over the Florida Mountains and spills across the desert floor, I stand in quiet awe. The golden rays stretch across the mesquite and creosote, touching the ocotillo with a soft fire that stirs my soul. In this still moment, with the world waking slowly around me, I feel Your presence whispering through the breeze.
You are holy, Lord—radiant and pure—and You have called me to reflect that holiness in my own small life. I confess that I often fall short. My thoughts wander, my words falter, my actions hesitate. But this morning, as the sun rises with promise, I offer You this day anew.
Shape me, Lord. Let Your holiness be the compass that guides my steps. Let it be the tone of my speech, the kindness in my eyes, the mercy in my hands. Not because I am worthy, but because You are. You have called me to be set apart—not distant, but devoted. Not perfect, but transformed.
May this day be marked by moments of grace. May I see others through Your eyes. And when I am tempted to turn back to old ways, remind me of the light now rising before me—steady, unwavering, holy.
Thank You for calling me Your own. Help me to walk in that calling, even here in the quiet desert where Your glory rises like the sun.
Amen.
May the God who calls you to holiness walk with you today, guiding your steps in light, love, and quiet strength.
