Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Evening Prayer
April 12, 2025
But our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there that we are expecting a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will transform the body of our humiliation that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, by the power that also enables him to make all things subject to himself. (Philippians 3:20-21)
Lord Jesus,
As the sun dips low behind the Florida Mountains and the desert hushes beneath a sky of lavender and gold, I pause in stillness before You. The breeze carries the scent of creosote and the last calls of meadowlarks echo over the mesquite. In this sacred quiet, I remember that my true citizenship is not of this earth but in heaven.
Here among the dust and wildflowers, I thank You for the promise that one day, You will transform even this frail and tired body to be like Yours—glorious, eternal, and whole. Sometimes my bones ache and the world feels heavy, but I hold onto the hope that You, with all the power that subjects everything to Yourself, are not finished with me yet.
Tonight, I rest beneath a sky scattered with stars, knowing I am held by a Savior who conquered death. Let my heart not cling too tightly to the things of this world. Help me to live each day as a sojourner, anchored not in what I see, but in who I serve.
Until the day You return or call me home, let me walk in faith, work in love, and wait with joy.
Amen.
May the peace of Christ, who will one day transform our lowly bodies into glory, rest upon you this spring night and guide your heart homeward.
