Friday Morning Prayer
December 20, 2024
See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you. (Matthew 11:10)
Heavenly Father,
As I rise this morning under the vast New Mexican sky, where the chill of December is warmed by the promise of Your light, I bow my heart in awe of Your presence. The desert whispers of Your glory, and the rugged beauty of this land reminds me of Your unchanging faithfulness.
You have sent messengers throughout time to prepare the way for Your coming. This morning, I reflect on the role of John the Baptist, the one who proclaimed repentance and hope, pointing always to the One greater than himself. Lord, let my life be a reflection of that same call, preparing a path for others to encounter Your love.
Guide me today as I journey through this Advent season. Let my words be seasoned with grace and my actions reflect Your mercy. In this season of waiting, teach me to quiet my heart and listen for Your voice. Help me to prepare not only my own heart but to bring light to others who walk in darkness.
The Advent candles remind me of the light breaking into the world, just as the first rays of morning sun break over the desert. May I carry that light with me, illuminating hope, peace, joy, and love wherever I go.
As I reflect on Your promise, I am humbled to think that You call me to participate in Your work of preparation. May my hands and feet be ready to serve, my heart be steadfast, and my spirit remain tuned to Your will.
In the stillness of this Friday morning, I lift my prayer to You, trusting that You are near. Lord Jesus, come quickly and renew Your creation.
In the name of the coming Christ,
Amen.
