Praying the Scriptures
Friday Morning Prayer
December 13, 2024
A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my spirit within you, and make you follow my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances. (Ezekiel 36:26–27)
Gracious and holy God,
On this Friday the 13th, a day wrapped in superstition and mystery, I turn my heart fully to You, the One who brings light to every shadow. Here in the land of vast desert skies and rugged mesas, I sense Your presence in the gentle breeze and the warm sun that kisses the earth.
Today, Lord, I hold fast to Your promise: You are giving me a new heart and putting a new spirit within me. You remove the heart of stone that so easily grows cold with fear, doubt, and sin, and You replace it with a heart of flesh—alive, beating with Your love, and open to Your will.
As I walk this day, I pray for the guidance of Your Spirit. Teach me to follow Your statutes, not out of obligation, but from a place of deep devotion and joy. Lead me to act with kindness, to love my neighbor as myself, and to embody Your grace in all I say and do.
Lord, on this day, that some see as unlucky, I choose to see it as blessed. The mountains stand firm, the sun rises faithfully, and Your Spirit fills me anew. I am not a captive of fear but a vessel of Your love.
Let Your Spirit within me shine brightly for others, especially in this land where beauty meets the broken. Whether I find myself in quiet prayer or in the midst of serving others, may I carry Your hope to a world in need of redemption.
I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, my Redeemer and King.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and inspiration for the day ahead.
