Deacon’s Den April 2025
April ’25 Deacon’s Den
Should I say, “Welcome to the dust bowl!” These dust storms and strong winds have been miserable. Do keep safe on the roads and take care of yourselves. As for me, I’m wearing a mask when I’m outside. I’ll accept any other helpful suggestions that come my way.
By the time you read this article in the April Church newsletter, there will only be one more Sunday in Lent – April 6th. My hope is that those of you who took the Lenten meditation booklet titled Living Well Through Lent…Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit are enjoying this series put out by The Living Compass. I have enjoyed these meditation booklets for years during Lent and Advent.
We’re only two weeks away from Holy Week, considered the Holiest week of the church year. In most Episcopal churches, it is also the busiest time of the year for clergy because many churches celebrate Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, the Great Easter Vigil on Saturday night, and then a glorious Easter Day service. At St Luke’s, we will celebrate Palm Sunday; Brother Peter will be with us again. Then, there will be a Good Friday service at noontime with the Stations of the Cross, and Rev Scott will help us celebrate Easter Day – the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Please do look at and take one or both of the suggestions for outreach to our community that are on the small table at the back of the church. Silver Linings and Colores Unites can always use supplies for their clients.
Also, IF you haven’t filled out the emergency contact form, please do so. If both Fred and I both died in a car wreck, would anyone know who in our family to contact? Not! So, I filled out the form. Please consider doing so, too.
Blessings a’plenty to everyone as we approach the most blessed time of the church year. Cassarones anyone?
